In 2004, IITs conducted the first Joint Admission Test (JAM) to select students for post gratuate courses in science programs. Now-a-days all the IITs, NITs, IISERs and IISc select students through this test. Thus the quality and importance of the test has been uplifted over time. Question pattern has also been changed and short answer type questions are imposed.
